Otava Publishing Company Ltd.

Kustannusosakeyhtiö Otava/Otava Publishing Company Ltd. was founded in 1890 by Hannes Gebhard and Eliel Aspelin-Haapkylä to publish Finnish national literature. Now it publish over 500 titles a year; fiction, non-fiction, children books, school books etc. Beautiful, art-nouveau Otava headquarters building in central Helsinki, designed by Karl Lindahl and Walter Thomé was built in 1905. Ihantola is a quite big, famous and desired jugend style residence in Helsinki, Finland, built in 1905–1907. It was designed by O. E. Koskinen and situated at Agricolankatu 10, Kallio district. Ihantola sign above the door represents very typical Art Nouveau style.




This beautiful ”Ylänkö” brick house was built in Art Nouveau style. It´s located at Viides linja 12, opposite of Karhupuisto, Kallio district. This decorative typography on the wall fits very well with the  #jugendstil” building style.




You can find this black iron gate and beautiful art nouveau typography at Maurinkatu 4, Kruununhaka area. This house located close to Liisanpuisto was built in 1911 and designed by architect Heikki Kaartinen.


Maurinkatu 4, Helsinki


The traditional food market hall of Hietalahti was opened in 1903. The market hall, with its 116 wooden shops, was designed by architect Selim A. Lindqvist, who was one of the most famous Finnish architect of that time. You can find these beautiful Kauppahalli – Saluhall ”jugendstil” signs made of concrete above the entrances.


Lönnrotinkatu 34, Helsinki


Marstähti at Mariankatu 24, is one of the many impressive artnouveau houses in Kruununhaka area. It was designed by architect Eino Scroderus and built in 1909. The blue tile is very beautiful with the name of the house and gold-colored typography.
